The iPhone 17 is the iPhone’s 2025 model and the successor to the yet-to-be-released iPhone 16. It’s likely to have a significant screen improvement, higher-resolution cameras, quicker CPUs, and more.
When Will iPhone 17 Be Released?
The iPhone 17 release date has not been disclosed, although it is expected to arrive in Autumn 2025. Apple is quite consistent with their iPhone release dates:
iPhone 15 Series: September 22, 2023
iPhone 14 Series: September 16, 2022.
iPhone 13 Series: September 24, 2021
Given this, the iPhone 17 is likely to be released between mid-September and early October 2025. The phone announcement is anticipated to occur a few weeks before that.
iPhone 17 Price Rumors
Apple’s pricing of new iPhones remains stable, just like its release dates. While nothing has been announced, the iPhone 17 is expected to be priced similarly, if not identically, to prior versions. The launch price of the entry-level model of the previous three iPhones was:
iPhone 15 (128GB): $US799
iPhone 14 (128GB) costs $799.
iPhone 13 (128GB) costs $799.
So, the iPhone 17 pricing may vary somewhat, but a starting price of $799 is a reasonable prediction, with the cost increasing depending on screen size and storage. Of course, the Pro edition will cost more.

iPhone 17 Specs & Features
The iPhone 17 is expected to include large screen enhancements, significant camera improvements, quicker CPUs, and other features. Here’s an overview of the rumours:
All versions have an always-on ProMotion screen with a refresh rate as low as 1Hz.
Improved screen scratch prevention.
Features include under-screen Face ID, an Apple A18 CPU, and Wi-Fi 7 chip.
48 megapixel telephoto lens and a 24-megapixel selfie camera.
Improved low-light photography.
Physically bigger phones
Additional AI features.
Screen
The iPhone 17 series screen is expected to undergo three significant enhancements.
First, Mashable (among others) cites a Korean source that the iPhone 17 would have Always-On 120Hz ProMotion displays across all versions. Currently, Always-On ProMotion displays are only available on Apple’s more expensive Pro models. ProMotion, which was initially introduced on the 2017 iPad Pro, increases scrolling and video playing performance.
According to TechRadar, this revolutionary panel may be capable of dropping its refresh rate from 120Hz to 1Hz. This would allow the phone to conserve a substantial amount of battery life when showing static material, such as when utilising the Always-On screen or Standby mode.
Finally, according to a Chinese claim, the iPhone 17 screen would include a new “super-hard anti-reflective layer” to prevent scratches and screen damage, replacing the present ceramic shield technology.
Face ID
According to Ross Young, an industry expert at Display Supply Chain Consultants, the iPhone 17 Pro models will include a significant adjustment to Face ID: rather than employing a camera notch at the top of the screen, the Face ID will be implanted beneath the phone’s screen. While the selfie camera cutout would remain, placing the Face ID sensors beneath the screen would be a step towards eliminating the notch altogether and having an all-screen front in a future iPhone model.

Processor and Chips
Each year, Apple unveils a new CPU to power the iPhone. Based on historical progression of those processors, the iPhone 17 series will be constructed around the yet-to-be-announced Apple A18 CPU.
Furthermore, HotHardware reports that the iPhone 17 will contain an Apple-designed Wi-Fi chip that supports Wi-Fi 7, allowing the phone to use the 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz Wi-Fi bands simultaneously.
Camera
According to rumours, the iPhone 17 series cameras will get at least three major changes.
First, MacRumors reports that the phone’s telephoto camera on the rear will have increased resolution. According to the website, the telephoto camera will increase to 48 megapixels from 12 megapixels on the iPhone 15. For the time being, this upgrade is believed to be limited to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Additionally, MacRumors reports that the selfie camera on the front of iPhone 17 models will have a resolution of 24 megapixels, up from 12 megapixels on the iPhone 15.
Finally, noted Apple analyst Kuo Ming-Chi says that the iPhone 17’s camera lenses would be made with six elements, up from five on current models, which will increase image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.
Phone Size
While not a widely published rumour, HotHardware reports that the iPhone 17’s physical proportions may alter, becoming taller and skinnier with a 19.6:9 aspect ratio.
AI
While there are no particular rumours regarding the usage of AI in the iPhone 17, it is known that that model, as well as its iOS version, will have several new AI technologies. What they are depends on what features are released with the iPhone 16/iOS 18 in 2024 and how the quickly evolving AI sector progresses, but expect some new artificial intelligence upgrades.
